Basics of Typography Posted by Hello

Fonts - serif, sans serif, script and grundge

  • serif is good for hard copies which is book or magazine, newspaper...
  • sans serif is good for computer screen since its blurredness or reflection
  • en-dash (option key)... ex) May - June
  • em-dash (option key + shift key)... She didn't -- but then she did http://www.strandbest.com

Point size & Alignment and justification

  • using character palette... various font sizes & alignment for paragraphes...
  • justification... with small size characters... create the special shapes with letters

Using the type menu and character palette &

Leading tracking and kerning

  • control the space in between letters or lines using tracking and kernings

General typographic standards

  • rule No. 1... don't use several font styles or sizes... minimize the various in one page... it will make you busy and crowed...
  • rule No. 2... usage of serif and san serif

Using the area type tool &

Flowing type along a path using the path type tool

  • You can type in along with various guide lines..
  • either shapes or slop using "T with curve" in Type tool

Creating outlines

  • type the letters with large size... ungroup first...
  • use white arrow to creat anchor points...
  • change letter shapes & color

"Things do not change we change."

Gradients Posted by Hello

Using the gradient tool to position gradients

I like this tool a lot…
I can create my own gradients for my favorite colors
I didn’t know how to control the directions or density.
But… now^^… I know how...^.~
It’s great!!!
Thank you!!! Ms. Bein!!!

Using the gradients palette & Making custom gradients

Click either racial or lineal box
Click & drag the color from the swatch or color prism…
And release it on gradient tool
You can add or remove the color, simply drag it out.
You can control the color’s density, too.

Making Gradient Meshes & Using the Blend tool

The Globe… or face…
In order to make 3D effects… like air brushes…
Creating many anchor points by clicking meshes…
When you using the blend tool on white anchor points…
The color will be affected on 4 sides.
If you click on smooth surface… it will only blend on that area.
You can also move anchor points as you need.
